Janelle VanderMeeden, BA, RYT200, barre certified

Finding yoga after the birth of her first child was life changing and sanity restoring.  The initial transformation was purely physical as the practice helped lose the last of the "baby weight",  Little did she know, the practice was creating internal change as well, bringing a sense of peace, calmness, and clarity of mind- and parent or not, who doesn't need more of that in their life?  This increase in physical, emotional, and mental wellness ignited a fire lit from within and yoga became a passion Janelle just has to share. 

 

Certified RYT200 with a particular love for Vinyasa and Restorative yoga, Janelle also has a BA degree from Grand Valley State University in Spanish and Elementary Education, Janelle enjoys working with all ages and abilities and desires to bring yoga into classrooms, giving children another tool to self-regulate and deal with the stress of life from a young age.  Ever the student herself, Janelle continues her training most often within the Grand Rapids community, but also practiced in depth while living in Nashville, TN.  To contact Janelle directly, please email healthiswealthyoga@gmail.com

Pamela Timm, RN, RYT200

A now retired nurse, Pamela received her RYT200 here in Kalamazoo, Michigan and now enjoys her continued study and training in the Iynger lineage of yoga at a certified Iynger studio in Grand Rapids, MI.

 

Earlier in life, Pamela was a self-declared "cardio addict".  However, after experiencing life changing effects due to a yoga practice, she knew yoga was a new passion.  Given the benefits she has seen and experienced, sharing the practice with others was inevitable. Pamela first opened Health is Wealth Yoga in Paw, Paw Michigan in 2015, and the new, Texas Corner's location opened in 2018.

Rem Bridgford, RYT, certified in Pilates, Barre, Zumba and more!

Rem has been teaching a variety of fitness classes for over 25 years.  While open to teaching many forms of physical fitness, Rem gravitates towards mind body focused practices as it provides an excellent format for teaching the safest form, function, and flexibility.  To begin, she will be sharing her love of yoga and Pilates at Health Is Wealth Yoga.

Fitness has been a huge part of Rem's personal life as well as professional career; she ran her first marathon in 1993 and completed her fifth marathon in 2014.  As a teacher, she looks forward to learning the goals and facilitating progress with her students.  Having recently moved back to Kalamazoo, Rem is excited to be back in town and a part of the team at Health Is Wealth Yoga!

Gena Heminover, RYT 200

Gena has been practicing yoga for over twelve years, she is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with 200 hr. yoga certification. Gena has been teaching for over eight years in various styles. A few of her favorites are; Vinyasa, Power yoga, Kids yoga, Yoga for Athletes, Ashtanga and Gentle Yoga. Gena is energetic, athletic and enjoys long distance running as well as spending time with her husband and two daughters.

 

Gena found  yoga after a running injury hindered her ability to run; she quickly realized and loved the various benefits of yoga and how it kept her injury free. She strives to help others discover these wonderful benefits of yoga as well. Gena is passionate about getting those that come to my classes to tune inward and feel their breath, their emotions, thoughts, muscles, joints, body…really to just feel something amazing about themselves!

Jess Whicker, RYT200+, SUP, RPM, Aerial Yoga

After taking her first vinyasa-style yoga class in 2011, Jess developed a love and passion for yoga that eventually led to a desire to teach.  Jess completed her 200-hour certification through YogaFit and has been actively teaching yoga since early 2016. She is continuing to work towards her 500-hour certification through YogaFit and has additional certifications and experience in teaching aerial yoga, stand-up paddle board yoga and Les Mills RPM (cycling). Her yoga teaching experience spans a wide range of populations from an active vinyasa-style for adults of all levels, to seniors chair yoga, prenatal, kids and restorative yoga. Jess also enjoys playing soccer, running and spending time with friends and family.

Mary Lauth, RYT 200

Yoga came to Mary through the encouragement of a friend over 10 years ago.  Initially resistant due to lack of interest and feeling “not bendy enough”, she eventually caved and joined her friend for a Sunday morning yoga class. Mary was immediately drawn to the practice and thus began her journey into yoga.  Since then she has completed her RYT 200 hours to become a yoga teacher through Lifetime Fitness, LifePower Yoga. From the shy person in the back of the room to leading classes is one of Mary’s proudest accomplishments. She taught for several years in private studios, chiropractic offices, and for a corporate fitness center. Her classes range from Gentle Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Slow Burn, YIN, Restorative and Yoga Nidra.  Mary truly love all formats of the practice and continues to learn and grow in the field, attending many workshops from Ayurveda to Reiki.

Mary and her husband recently retired and moved to Michigan to be close to family.  Prior to retirement, she worked full time in a fast paced, stressful job and found that Yoga brought a sense of calm and taught her to be less reactive to daily pressures.   

 

In addition to practicing Yoga, Mary loves to travel, ride with her husband on his Harley, spend time at the beach and camp with friends.  She also love to garden, growing her own vegetables in the summer. Spending time with her granddaughter is joyful as it gives her a second chance to watch my daughter grow up all over again.  

 

Mary would love to have you in class, even if you aren’t “bendy”!!

Kaitlyn VanderMeer, barre certified

Kaitlyn originally found yoga her freshman year of college after being diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy. After years of only occassionally going to classes, she began to dive into her practice much more in 2015/2016. She plans to take her RYT 200 yoga teacher training in February in Grand Rapids.

 

Kaitlyn has always been active; she started rock climbing at a young age, played soccer for years, and still tries to find time to take her dog on a quick hike. In 2018 she took her first Barre class and immediately fell in love. She was Barre Above certified in early 2019 and is excited to teach you some of what she has learned- come meet her at the barre!

 

Outside of yoga and barre, you can find Kaitlyn designing Kitchens and Baths at Hannapel Home Center or serving downtown at Bell’s Brewery.
