Have you ever been told to "just change your perspective!" and thought, "uh huh, but how?" Well, Yoga invites us to take that challenge literally! In Sirsasana (headstand) and Sarvangasana (shoulderstand), the two asanas at the heart of Iyengar Yoga, you can't help but experience a reorientation; and with the regular practice of inversions, new perspectives begin to offer themselves on a daily basis -- alongside your improved circulation, concentration, and confidence.
In this playful but informative workshop, you will learn about the benefits of active and restorative inversions, as well as safe and strengthening methods to build these transformative asanas from the ground up. Even (read: especially) if you're that person who hides in the bathroom whenever headstand comes around, this one's for you. Once understood, these poses are as accessible as any other; once mastered, more powerful than any other. Take this opportunity to confront your fears and learn to trust your body. A new perspective might be waiting for you.
This workshop is open to all levels, with modifications given throughout based on experience of the practitioner. It is the second in a series of three workshops at Health is Wealth Yoga (3rd workshop April 7).
